While it is true that some colleges include SAT results in their assessment of student readiness, Manchester Community College will not rely on SAT results to determine a Spark student’s readiness for its courses.
Standardized testing will be used primarily to help us assess the success of the total program at Spark Academy. We will use the PSAT 8/9 in our students’ first year to help us establish a baseline evaluation of individual student performance to date and for the class as a whole so that we may provide an academic experience that best meets our students’ needs. The PSAT will be used in the second year to provide us with “data points” to help us measure an individual student’s progress and overall program effectiveness. The SAT will be utilized in the third and possibly fourth years to continue providing us will information to help us assess progress and to help us establish student learning goals each year.
